Island House courses
Island House offer accredited online courses for parents in health and social care. They also facilitate "brush up your skills", a pre-employment project, which covers things like CV writing, completing application forms and interview techniques.

"I would definitely recommend the parents course to any parent who wants to get back to work or learn something new. They won't regret it."
"I have met new friends and taken some online course with lovely Cathy. They recommended me to go to Island Advice Centre and now I am working as volunteer in Island House Community Centre. I really enjoy being there."
MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do it!)
Early Years parents and their children have taken part in MEND; a fun and active programme encouraging families to live healthy lifestyles. Families play games together and try a range of fruits, such as papaya and passion fruit so parents feel confident teaching their children about healthy foods.
Reading with your child
Early Years parents have learnt techniques to help their children develop their reading skills. They have practised different activities to take home and do with their children as well as created different props to help tell the story.
ESOL and ICT for ESOL learners
Some of our parents learning English and improve their ICT skills as well. Activities include CV writing and are tailored to the needs of the group.
